The Nataural Resources, Agricultural Development and Food Security International Research Network originated with the Agreement for Direct Cooperation signed in 2008 by the University of Pavia and the University of Pretoria. The Research Network has the specific objective of promoting the exchange of publications, scientific information and materials relevant to the fields of Natural Resources; Agricultural Development; and Food Security, where the founding Universities have consolidated research experience at both the national and international levels.Through its activity the Research Network aims to contribute to the international debate on the reaffirmed key role of agricultural development for food security which is strongly dependent on the availability and quality of resources, particularly natural ones such as water.
The core activities of the Research Network include the website implementation and the International Working Paper series. The former is considered one of the most efficient ways to connect the members of the Network to one another and to the local and international scientific community and agents, while the latter is primarily aimed at disseminating the activity of young African researchers, while also encouraging scientific cooperation.
